electric flatbed only

Surrey EV Tow Truck — BC Hydro Fast Charge

Surrey Tow Truck connects Surrey EV owners with flatbed-trained operators. Tesla Model 3 stranded between Superchargers, Polestar with a 12V fault, Rivian high-centred on a downtown parkade ramp, Ford Lightning needing transport home, a flatbed-only rig is on the way. Wheel-lift is never used on an electric vehicle, regardless of how short the haul is.

12v discharge vs traction

12V vs Traction Tesla Recovery Service

Most "EV won't start" scenarios in Surrey are 12V accessory battery discharge, not traction battery discharge — the same $180 lead-acid battery that runs headlights and infotainment on a gas car runs the exact same subsystems on a Tesla Model 3 or Ford Mach-E. When it dies, the EV won't enter Ready mode even with a full traction pack. Our boost service from 176 Street resolves 80-90% of Tesla Model 3, Model Y, Bolt EUV, and Kia EV6 "dead" calls in under 20 minutes without flatbed dispatch. Traction-battery discharge requires a different call.

True traction-battery discharge is rarer — usually after 6-14 days of parking at Vancouver International Airport (YVR) with sentry mode enabled, or after a Semiahmoo Bay long-storage where the 12V system parasitically drained the traction pack through the DC-DC converter. When the traction pack drops below 5% state-of-charge, the vehicle won't enter Ready mode and can't self-drive to a Supercharger. Our EV flatbed service tows to Central City Fraser Highway Supercharger, Guildford Town Centre EVgo, or the customer's home Level 2 wallbox — whichever the owner prefers.

EV Tow Flow

Surrey EV Flatbed, Breakdown to Service Centre in 4 Steps.

  1. Place the EV in tow mode

If the touchscreen is alive, select transport or jack mode. If the 12V is dead, leave the car parked and tell the operator the screen is dark.

  2. Call and say "electric" first

Lead with the make and model so the operator routes a flatbed. Share state of charge, ambient temperature, location and what failed.

  3. Routing and quote

Operator maps to the closest Tesla, Polestar, Rivian or Ford service centre, confirms cost and arrival time, and stages a flatbed nearby.

  4. Load and transport

Operator winches the EV up the deck with all four wheels off the ground, secures the chassis through manufacturer-approved tie-downs, and tows to the chosen service centre.

Central City Supercharger Drop-Off

Across BC, central City tower complex (Whalley Central Surrey City Centre) runs the highest EV density in Metro South — Tesla Model 3, Bolt EUV, Mach-E clustered at tower parkades. Weekday morning cold-crank peaks 8-10 AM concentrate here. King George SkyTrain station commuter lots generate second-peak volume — Central Surrey commuters catching SkyTrain to Downtown Vancouver leave cars at station 5+ days sometimes. South Surrey and Ocean Park upscale residential add EV owners with Model Y, Model X, and Rivian R1S. White Rock border-adjacent coverage uses Hwy 99 access.

BC ICBC no-fault workflow changes billing. Guildford Town Centre mall parkade generates weekend recreational transient EV volume. Surrey Memorial Hospital (13750 96 Avenue) and Peace Arch Hospital (White Rock) both attract EV commuter cluster. Cross-border cross-Fraser scenarios use Alex Fraser Bridge (Hwy 91) or Pattullo Bridge (Hwy 99A) to Vancouver EV owner drop-off. Nash Road industrial is 15-25 min for Central City and King George SkyTrain scenarios via Surrey 24/7 dispatch.

Tesla Model Y went into reduced-power mode on the highway in minus-fifteen weather. Flatbed in 35 minutes, dropped at the service centre. Exactly what I needed.

Polestar 2 high-centred on a downtown parkade ramp. Operator showed up with a low-angle flatbed, lifted off without scraping. Knew where the battery pack ran.

Rivian R1T 12V died at a charger. Operator walked me through the front-trunk manual pull while the flatbed was en route. Boost got it rolling.

Mustang Mach-E ran out short of the Supercharger on the highway. Flatbedded back into town, billed through Ford warranty. Charging within the hour.
